It has been a great year and all, my life has truly taken a turn for the better, I've seen a LOT of new things and done a LOT of new things, pretty much got a nice taste of the outside world.
But first things first, let's go over my experiences in the last month or so...
The movie I had practically waited two years for finally debuted and I was as eager as a six-year old - The Princess and the Frog. After a string of failures from the debut of Treasure Planet (I have yet to see Home on the Range) Disney decided to flat-out go 3-D CGI like their partner Pixar, except without the storytelling magic. Apparently that still didn't do too well and Disney continued its downward spiral making little girls into little whores and making talentless teens popular. I'm only being brutally honest.
Now, John Lasseter, one of the great minds behind Pixar took over as head of Disney's animation division and decided to turn things around for the better. We needed to bring back the Disney of old. And that's what he fucking did. I love this man. Respect. While I'd love to discuss parts of the movie I realize I can't say anything without spoiling a thing because, the story pretty much intertwines with everything from the start. But what I can say is that Disney has pretty much whipped itself back into working condition. The Princess and the Frog feels like yet another Disney animated masterpiece.
A refreshing return.
If you look back at some of Disney's older animated films (preferably their more recent ones beginning from the 1980s and the Disney Renaissance) you'd notice that some would get a little extreme for the younger audiences, you'd see things that would make you feel that this movie should not be rated "G"... It is that dark element Disney loved to throw in with their movies. Don Bluth took that kind of thing to a whole new level though, if you've ever seen "The Land Before Time" or "All Dogs Go to Heaven". But yes, this movie made me feel like I was back in the 1990s growing up watching cartoons the old-fashioned way... And to say I nearly cried at the end just puts the icing on the cake.
